Sadie King has orchestrated a complex scheme to drive a wedge between Caleb Miligan and his wife Ruby, but the plan has resulted in an unexpected tryst. In the episode airing Tuesday, November 3, on ITV1, Caleb confronts Ruby after witnessing her dancing with Ross Barton. He believes she left the pub with their daughter's ex, leading him to suspect an affair.
The conflict stems from Sadie's manipulation over the past week. Sadie, who returned to the village two decades after leaving, has been feeding information to both spouses. She encouraged Ruby to drink excessively to make Caleb worry about her alcoholism. Simultaneously, she told Caleb that Ruby's behavior was due to his controlling nature. Sadie also swapped Ruby's non-alcoholic drinks with her own, ensuring Ruby appeared intoxicated during the evening's events.
Caleb's belief that Ruby had strayed led him to seek comfort in an unlikely place. While thinking Ruby was with Ross, Caleb kissed Sadie. The couple will now have to navigate the aftermath of this accidental relationship as Ruby seeks answers from Sadie about the lies.
The storyline began when Sadie accepted an offer from Joe Tate to return to Emmerdale. Since her arrival, she has focused on destroying Caleb and Ruby's marriage. Her latest move involved watching Ruby dance with Ross and manipulating Caleb into thinking the night ended with the two leaving together. This led Caleb to decide to end things with his wife, a decision he later reversed after realizing the truth.
In another subplot, Marlon Dingle reveals to Charity that Robert Sugden is trying to hire him for The Hide. Despite Charity's reminders of Marlon's loyalties, Marlon and Mary Goskirk hand in their notices after learning about the potential salary. Charity reacts by throwing Robert and Aaron out of the pub.
The new episode airs on ITV1 at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3. Viewers can also stream the show on ITVX or YouTube starting at 7 a.m. the same day.
