The Dingle family in Emmerdale has prepared for the return of Tom King, only to discover he is in critical condition after a prison fight. This development halts the arrival of Samson Dingle, who was scheduled to come home at the same time.

Tom King, played by James Chase, was released from prison after serving a two-year sentence for abusing his wife Belle. Cain Dingle, played by Jeff Hordley, visited King in his cell after believing King sent a wreath of dead flowers to Belle. During the visit, King made fun of Cain's cancer diagnosis, which angered the patriarch. Cain vowed that King would not hurt Belle again once he returned to the village.

On the morning of Samson Dingle's release, Charles Anderson arrives at the Dingle home with urgent news. He informs the family that Tom King was beaten in his cell and is currently in critical condition. This news complicates the family's plans, as Samson was expected to come home that same day.

Cain admits to Samson that he organized the attack on King. The prison then confirms to Samson that he assaulted someone while behind bars. Because of this incident, Samson will not be returning home as planned. Sam realizes his father manipulated the situation, leading to a physical altercation between the two men. Cain leaves the house, leaving Sam to grieve over his son's delayed return.

Other storylines continue in the village. Nicola is surprised when Laurel suggests that Kev might have romantic feelings for her. Lewis makes a similar suggestion to Kev. Robert gives Kev a chance to prove his skills at The Smoke House by asking him to cook steaks. Kev accepts the challenge but later tells Nicola he is leaving the cafe. They share a final moment over a rejected offer of tea. Joe continues to pressure Caleb about a one-night stand with Sadie, claiming Ruby will believe his version of events. These scenes air on Monday, Nov. 9, at 8 p.m. on ITV1. The episode is also available on ITVX and YouTube.

The week features fewer episodes of the show than usual due to schedule changes. No new episode aired on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The next scheduled broadcast is Monday, Nov. 9. Fans can stream the episode from 7 a.m. on the day of broadcast. The show continues its focus on the Dingle clan's internal conflicts and the impact of Tom King's release on the family dynamics.

The narrative centers on the consequences of Cain's decision to intervene in King's release. Samson's detention adds a layer of frustration for the family, who had been preparing for his return. The physical conflict between Cain and Samson highlights the tension within the household. Meanwhile, the romance threads involving Kev, Nicola, and Lewis provide a lighter counterpoint to the main drama. The show remains a weekly staple for viewers following the village of Emmerdale.
