Bristol City's manager, Michael Skubala, confirmed that Lorent Tolaj may play against Wolves, having been partially nursed through Monday's training session. Tolaj's hip injury has been causing him trouble, but Skubala is hopeful he will be fit for the match at Ashton Gate. Both Rob Dickie and Elijah Adebayo are also closing in on a return from injury, adding to the team's depth.
The Robins are set to host Wolves at Ashton Gate on Wednesday evening, in front of the Sky Sports cameras. Cesar Peixoto's side currently sit third in the Championship table, just four points off top spot, having beaten Cardiff City at Molinuex last time out.
City sit 11 places, but only six points adrift of their next opponents, a gap they maintained over the weekend with their dramatic win over Bolton Wanderers. The Reds ended a four-match winless run and scored their first open play goals since the international break as they won 3-2 in Lancashire.
Tolaj led the line alongside Dom Ballard at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, despite seeing his time on the training pitch in the days leading up to Saturday's win limited by a contusion on his hip.
Although such an issue is still causing the striker trouble, Skubala hopes he'll be fit to play a part under the BS3 lights, while both Rob Dickie and Elijah Adebayo are also closing in on a return from injury.
Asked if the squad came through the meeting with Bolton unscathed, the City boss told Bristol Live, 'Yep. A few knocks and a few bruises.'
Tolaj's injury may keep him sidelined for a matter of days, but he is expected to make a return to the matchday squad.
Gibson Yah and Noah Eile were the only other first-team players to miss the weekend's trip to Bolton.
The Reds face the prospect of a very quick turnaround, with a match against Norwich City on Saturday lunchtime.
Skubala and his staff have opted to protect players who have not long returned from injury by leaving them out of starting line-ups or squads for midweek fixtures.
Skubala confirmed that rotation would be required between matches, as it is important to have a squad that can be used effectively.
The manager's process for selecting players is based on their strengths and weaknesses, and his goal is to help the team get results.
