Dafne Keen has spoken about being offered cocaine at wrap parties when she was 11 years old.
The 21-year-old actress appeared in the 2017 film Logan, where she played Laura opposite Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart. She later starred in His Dark Materials and reprised her role in the 2024 movie Deadpool and Wolverine.
Keen told Michael Rosenbaum on the Inside of You podcast that she has never developed an interest in drugs or alcohol due to her early experiences. She noted that she does not believe she has ever been drunk enough to suffer a hangover.
"I’m such a control freak with that," Keen said. "Because also I think as a child actor I witnessed so much of that as a child that I just had no interest."
She described receiving small offers of cocaine at parties when she was 11, 12, and 13. Keen said she observed the behavior closely and decided she had no desire to participate. "I was saying no, fortunately," she confirmed.
Keen said she remains energetic without alcohol. She explained that she will go out and stay until 6 a.m. while sober because she enjoys music, dancing, and company. "I would say I’m a fun time. I don’t really need it," she said.
As a teenager, Keen admitted she sometimes lied to avoid peer pressure. She would tell friends she had already taken something, even when she was completely sober. "I’d be like, 'Nah, I’m good. I don’t wanna drink. I already took something,'" she recalled. "Dead sober. Like, the goodest goody-two-shoes ever."
Keen praised Hugh Jackman for his support during the production of Logan. She said he provided positive reinforcement and good advice. "He’s the best number one you could ever wish for. And he’s the best on-screen dad," Keen said. She added that Jackman acted as a parental figure and ensured her working hours were respected.
Jackman made sure Keen was having fun on set and was not exposed to behind-the-scenes tensions. Keen described him as incredibly protective. She noted that the cast and crew treated her like a respectable artist.
"My opinion really felt like it mattered," Keen said. "If I said I thought something about a scene, people would think about it. And I don’t know if it was fake or not, but it really felt like I was included in the process."
Keen made her acting debut in the BBC series The Refugees in 2014. She continues to work in film and television.
The podcast appearance aired on November 5, 2026. Keen is currently 21 years old.
