Saquon Barkley told reporters on Sunday that he intends to remain with the Philadelphia Eagles, countering speculation about a potential trade. The comments came immediately after the team's 27-10 defeat by the Washington Commanders at Landover, Maryland.

Barkley has played in his third season with the Eagles, during which he has rushed for 274 yards on 56 carries for two touchdowns. He also caught seven passes for 41 yards in that span. In the loss to Washington, he recorded 14 touches for 54 yards and a score, though he missed a portion of the game due to hamstring and back issues.

The Eagles currently hold a 2-6 record and sit in last place in the NFC East. They face the division-leading New York Giants in Philadelphia next Sunday. With one game remaining before the November 10 trade deadline, the roster includes several injured players, including quarterback Jalen Hurts.

"I would love to be here," Barkley said. "I plan on being here. I don’t like the way the season is going, but I am not one of those guys that wants to jump ship. That’s not the type of person you want to have, and that’s not the person I am. I’d rather be a part of a solution to the problem and hopefully be a reason we fix it."

The team recently traded offensive lineman Cam Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for two draft picks. That move has prompted discussions regarding additional roster changes. Barkley stated he prefers to stay and contribute to correcting the team's performance rather than leaving the organization.
