The Philadelphia Eagles will start Joe Milton against the New York Giants on Sunday, according to reports from ESPN. The decision ends speculation about the team's quarterback situation following the loss of Jalen Hurts for the season.

Head coach Nick Sirianni did not address the roster change during his Wednesday press conference. Neither Milton nor backup Tanner McKee spoke to reporters after practice. The news broke publicly less than two hours after Sirianni finished his media availability.

Milton, a 26-year-old from Tennessee, joined the Eagles on October 16. He was signed off the Dallas Cowboys practice squad. He moved to the backup role one week later. He became the starter three weeks after joining the team. This will be his first career NFL start.

The Eagles have struggled offensively since Hurts suffered blood clots in his lungs. McKee started the previous three games. The coaching staff and players say they hope Milton provides a new dynamic for the offense.

Dallas Goedert said the offensive group learned of the decision in a meeting before the public announcement. He noted that the team hoped the surprise would last until game day. He added that the news spread quickly among fans and media members.

Teammates praised Milton's arm strength and accuracy during Wednesday's practice. Receiver Darius Cooper described the throws as fast and difficult to track. Tight end Eli Stowers said he feels the velocity when catching the ball. Goedert said the quick arrival of the football helps receivers make plays.

Milton stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 236 pounds. His mobility in the pocket is expected to help the offense handle defensive pressure. The Eagles are likely to play without wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks on Sunday. Teammates plan to support Milton by communicating motion calls and creating separation.

Veteran receiver Hollywood Brown said Milton displays confidence in the locker room. Brown noted that Milton arrived with the specific goal of getting a starting opportunity. Stowers described Milton as a positive presence since his arrival in mid-October. The team will take the field in South Philadelphia to face the Giants on Sunday afternoon.
