Jaime Winstone misses Strictly episode after tearing abdominal muscle

Actress Jaime Winstone will not appear on this weekend's episode of Strictly Come Dancing. The 41-year-old performer is taking a week off to recover from a torn abdominal muscle. Doctors advised her to rest completely to help her body heal.

Winstone and her professional partner Carlos Gu will receive a bye through to next week. The show's producers hope the pair will be ready to dance again at that time. The break follows two consecutive weeks where the couple landed in the bottom two positions.

In a statement, Winstone described her current condition. She said she is in considerable pain. Her medical team told her that total rest gives her body the best chance to mend.

The actress called the decision frustrating. She stated that she must prioritize her health over performing this week. She expressed hope that she can return to the ballroom soon.
