Manchester City will host Bradford City in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals after edging past Brighton on penalties.

City trailed Brighton twice before Vitor Reis levelled in the 72nd minute at the Etihad Stadium, sending the last-16 tie to a shootout. Geronimo Rulli, starting in goal for the holders, saved two spot-kicks as Enzo Maresca's side went through. Bradford reached the quarter-finals for the first time since 2013 by beating Peterborough United 2-0 earlier in the week.

Liverpool also required penalties to advance, defeating Chelsea at Anfield. Cody Gakpo and Morgan Rogers scored from the spot in normal time before the shootout went to sudden death. Kostas Tsimikas and Emmanuel Emegha each missed attempts to settle it, and Wesley Fofana sent Chelsea's decisive kick over the bar. The result marked Liverpool's fifth successive shootout victory over Chelsea and handed Xabi Alonso and Jordan Henderson defeats on their returns to Anfield. Bournemouth booked their place by scoring three times against Aston Villa.

The quarter-final draw pairs Manchester City with Bradford City, Liverpool with Bournemouth, and Crystal Palace with Sunderland. Fleetwood Town will host either Everton or Newcastle United after their win over Arsenal; the two Premier League sides meet Thursday night, separated by one point in the table. Palace advanced past Fulham while Sunderland beat Brentford 5-4 on aggregate of goals.

The quarter-final matches are scheduled for the week beginning Dec. 14. The final is set for Wembley on Sunday, March 21, 2027.
