Fox will air the new Baywatch series on Wednesday, January 6, 2027, at 9 p.m.
Production on the project started in early 2026. The series will consist of 12 episodes. Fox has not yet confirmed the exact date for the UK broadcast on Sky and NOW, though it is expected to air in the same month.
The story centers on Hobie Buchannon, played by Stephen Amell. He is the son of the original character Mitch Buchannon. In this version, Hobie serves as the Baywatch Captain. His routine changes when his biological daughter, Charlie, arrives in town. Charlie, played by Jessica Belkin, asks for a position on the lifeguard team. Hobie struggles with the joy of reuniting with her and the fear of keeping her safe in the water.
Amell is known for his role as Oliver Queen in the Arrowverse. He is 45 years old. Belkin is 24 and has appeared in films such as Last Straw and Bad Day. The rest of the main cast includes Hassie Harrison as Nat, Noah Beck as Luke, and Shay Mitchell as Trina. Olivia Dunne plays Grace, and Brooks Nader plays Selene, a rival to Hobie.
Several actors from the original 1989 to 1999 run are returning. David Chokachi, 58, is back as Cody Madison. He runs the local bar and grill. Erika Eleniak, 57, returns as Shauni McClain, who is now a Santa Monica city councilwoman. Michael Bergin, 57, guest stars as Jack Darius. Kelly Packard, 51, also appears as April Giminski. Neither David Hasselhoff nor Pamela Anderson has been confirmed for a cameo.
Pamela Anderson, 59, told Deadline that no one has reached out to her regarding the new series. She noted that the show was a great job and that she loved working on the beach. The new series follows a format similar to the original. It features high-stakes rescues, including a plane crash, alongside the personal dramas of the lifeguard team.
The first episode will introduce the new team and their dynamics. Viewers can expect to see the lifeguards respond to emergencies and deal with rivalries. The show will run for a full season of 12 episodes on Fox.
