Clarks Village is giving away free entry to its opening night ice skating event on Thursday, Nov. 12.
The shopping center in Street will host a session from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. that organizers say will be the world's biggest snowman skate. Participants are encouraged to wear top hats and carrot noses for the attempt.
The rink has been a regular winter feature at the venue. Mike Jones, the center director, noted that past launches have become a Christmas tradition for many guests. He said, "Our Festive Ice Rink launches have gone down an absolute storm, with guests telling us that it's become part of their Christmas tradition." Jones added that the new snowman theme aims to be another memorable event for families.
The skating surface is real ice and covers 585 square meters. It is located on the lawn of the Shoemakers Museum. Visitors enter from the restaurant terrace of the shopping center. The rink is wheelchair accessible and can be booked for private parties, school trips, and community visits.
During the launch event, Santa Claus and Frosty the Snowman will skate with the crowd. Snow machines will operate inside the venue, and a live DJ will provide music. After the free session, the rink will stay open daily until Sunday, Jan. 3. It will be closed on Christmas Day.
The season includes various session types. Options include after-school skating, parent and toddler sessions, quiet sessions, and disco nights. New Skate and Sing sessions are also part of the schedule. The venue offers 2-for-1 deals on tickets. Skating is available on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day.
