387 votes cast in a recent poll suggest that a significant portion of the British public believes U2 should headline Glastonbury 2027. The result places the band as the second most popular choice among 3,003 respondents, trailing only Oasis, which received 400 votes. This public sentiment coincides with a new announcement from the band that has reignited speculation about their future tour dates.

U2 has confirmed it will perform an exclusive concert for the BBC on Tuesday, November 3. The show will take place at a secret venue in central London. The band will be reunited on stage, with Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. performing together. This gathering marks a notable return to the stage for the group, which last headlined the Glastonbury Festival in 2011. A return next summer would mark 16 years since the band last played Worthy Farm.

The concert was announced by Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2 on Tuesday evening. The performance will feature a mix of the band’s biggest hits and material from their upcoming studio album, Carnaval De Luz. That new record is scheduled for release on November 13. While the BBC show is not directly connected to Glastonbury, the timing has led fans to draw connections between the band’s renewed activity and their potential return to the festival.

In the poll that generated the 387 votes for U2, Eminem completed the top three choices for dream headliners. Sam Fender and The Rolling Stones also received substantial support from readers. Despite the popularity of these acts, festival organizer Emily Eavis has previously indicated that all three headliners for the 2027 festival have already been booked. She has also previously downplayed rumors of a specific act taking the top slot, leaving fans to speculate on the identities of the confirmed artists.

Tickets for the upcoming London concert are limited and will be distributed through a BBC Audiences ballot. The application process closes at 11.59 pm on Thursday, October 29. The specific location of the venue will remain hidden until the day of the performance. Successful applicants will be informed of the address ahead of the show. Those who do not secure a ticket can still watch the event later in the month.

The concert will air on BBC Two in late November as part of a special evening dedicated to the band. A radio broadcast of the performance is scheduled for Monday, November 30, on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds. This broadcast will occur during Jo Whiley’s show between 7 pm and 9 pm and will include a new interview with the group. Whiley described the band as incredible, stating that they give 100 percent to each and every show. She expressed anticipation for the upcoming concert.

The band will also participate in the Tracks of My Years feature on BBC Sounds and iPlayer starting November 15. In this segment, U2 will join Vernon Kay to select ten songs that have shaped their lives and careers. The group has won 22 Grammy Awards and is currently preparing for a busy period of releases and performances. The actual headliners for Glastonbury 2027 remain a closely guarded secret, with tickets for the festival having sold out in just 42 minutes.
