A 71-year-old cyclist died after being hit by two cars on Route 73 in Voorhees, New Jersey, early Saturday morning.

Maksudur Rahman was finishing his closing shift at the Harmony Diner on Route 73 on Friday, October 23. He cleaned the kitchen before leaving work. Manager Courtney McCauley said Rahman always made sure the diner was spotless for the next day. Coworkers noted that Rahman often rode his bicycle home to Berlin after his shift ended.

Police were called to the 100 block of Route 73 at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, October 24. This location is about two miles south of the diner. Officers found Rahman in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Camden County Prosecutor's Office stated that Rahman was likely struck by two vehicles that both left the area.

Most of Rahman's coworkers learned of his death the following day. McCauley described the silence in the kitchen as they processed the news. She told reporters that the day was very quiet for the staff. She later expressed frustration at the drivers who left the scene. McCauley said she felt there was a lack of humanity and morals in the incident.

The prosecutor's office described one suspected vehicle as a dark gray or black Ford Fusion model year 2017 to 2020. The second vehicle is believed to be a dark-colored midsize SUV. Detectives are currently reviewing surveillance video from the crash site. Voorhees Township Police and the Camden County Prosecutor's Office are asking anyone with information to come forward.

The family of the deceased is seeking answers regarding the incident. They want to know why the drivers did not stop at the scene. The investigation remains active as authorities gather evidence.
