The Eagles lost to Dallas 38-21 on Monday night.
With backup Tanner McKee starting in place of Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia's offense could not overcome a defense that gave up a season-high 416 yards. The Cowboys ran for 204 of those yards and never allowed Prescott to take a sack or a quarterback hit.
Javonte Williams carried 25 times for 155 yards and a touchdown for Dallas. The total was the most a Vic Fangio-led Eagles defense has allowed to a running back. Dallas entered the game ranked last in the league in rushing attempts with 122 and second-to-last with 456 rushing yards. Against Philadelphia, the Cowboys ran for 101 yards on 18 carries in the first half alone, a rate of 5.6 yards per attempt.
Prescott finished 15-for-27 for 212 yards and three touchdowns, with a 118.1 rating. He hit CeeDee Lamb on a corner route for a score in the second quarter, beating Cooper DeJean in man coverage on third-and-2 from the 9, then found George Pickens for a 9-yard touchdown on the next possession. According to Next Gen Stats, the Pickens catch carried a 14.9% probability, the most improbable touchdown reception of the season. Prescott added a 16-yard strike to Lamb in the third quarter and ran in the two-point conversion himself.
Philadelphia's offense scored early. Saquon Barkley went eight yards up the middle for a touchdown on the opening drive, and Dameon Pierce added a 5-yard run to make it 14-10 in the second quarter. McKee found Makai Lemon for a 4-yard score in the third quarter, a drive that consumed 9 minutes, 16 seconds, the longest touchdown march of the Eagles' season. Dallas answered with a field goal to lead 31-21, then Williams scored from 2 yards out after Philadelphia turned the ball over on downs in its own territory.
McKee went 23-for-35 for 211 yards, one touchdown and one interception, for a 79.6 rating. DeMarvion Overshown picked him off in the fourth quarter on a throw intended for Dallas Goedert. Quinnen Williams then sacked McKee for an 8-yard loss on second-and-9 from the Eagles' 17, and an incomplete pass to Hollywood Brown on fourth down ended the possession.
Barkley returned after missing two games with a hamstring injury. He carried seven times for 62 yards and a touchdown, with two catches for nine yards, playing nine snaps. His back locked up on a 29-yard run in the first quarter, and he did not return after a later carry. Britain Covey left with a knee injury in the first quarter and was ruled out at the start of the second. Moro Ojomo exited late in the fourth quarter and did not return.
Jordan Davis addressed the defense's play after the game. "It starts from up front, and then it bleeds into all three levels," Davis said. "We didn't play good enough, against the run, and it kind of opened up their whole playbook." The loss was the Eagles' fifth in a row.
