Nicole Taylor, a founding member of the country music group Taylor Red, died on Sept. 28, 2026. She was 35 years old. Her triplet sisters, Nika and Natalie Taylor, announced the news on the group's official website and in an Instagram video posted Monday.
The family held a private funeral service. Nika and Natalie said Nicole was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in 2022. They described her as a fighter who approached her illness with determination rather than dread.
Nika Taylor noted that their sister continued her physical routine even during medical treatment. "She even did CrossFit while she was doing her [chemotherapy] treatments," Nika said. The sisters explained that Nicole initially responded well to chemotherapy and was declared to have no evidence of disease.
However, doctors later informed the family that the cancer had progressed to Stage 4. Nika Taylor said this more serious diagnosis came roughly nine months after her initial treatment. When Nicole asked for a prognosis, doctors indicated she had about three months to live, with an uncertain timeline if treatments were effective.
Natalie Taylor recalled that her sister lived the remaining year with hope and activity. "She tried not to live in fear, remained really hopeful, traveled, she tried to live life, she worked really hard, she tried to have fun," Natalie said. When faced with the final prognosis, Nicole responded, "Everybody's gonna face judgment, and I'm ready to."
Born on March 18, 1991, Nicole formed the group Red Roots with her sisters in 2010. The trio released their self-titled debut album in 2011, followed by "The Middle of Nowhere" in 2012 and "Triplicity" in 2014. They signed with Inpop Records in 2015 and changed their name to Taylor Red, releasing the track "Country Money" in 2021.
Nika and Natalie said Nicole maintained a deep and steady faith throughout her life. "We are still shocked and didn't think this would happen," Nika said. "But we know she's not suffering anymore, and we have God's promise of ultimate healing."
