One person died and two others were hospitalized after a helicopter crashed into Biscayne Bay in Florida.
Video of the scene shows the aircraft's flotation device floating upside down in the water. Officials stood next to a tarp covering what appeared to be a body. A captain from a nearby boat is believed to have alerted the Coast Guard to the crash.
This incident follows a private jet crash near West Palm Beach on Sunday that killed nine people. The victims included 45-year-old Adam Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp, 40, and their children Emma and Charlie. Nanny Anita Maria Apellido Cetina and friends Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr also died. Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, a 20-year-old co-pilot, was also on the jet.
Helen Sharp's father confirmed the deaths of his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. He described the loss as a significant blow to the family. Nathalia's mother and stepfather confirmed she was the co-pilot on the doomed flight. Her mother said she knew aviation would eventually take her daughter away. "I always knew it, but I was so proud of her," the mother said.
The helicopter crash in Biscayne Bay is currently under investigation. The Coast Guard is leading the response. No further details have been released regarding the cause of the helicopter accident or the condition of the two survivors in the hospital.
