Halloween Gaming Guide: 10 New Horror Titles For The Season

Halloween week has arrived, and with it a fresh crop of horror games.

GameCentral released its list of 2026's best horror video games on October 30, selecting 10 titles from big publishers and smaller independent studios. The selection is limited to games that launched this year, excluding updated re-releases and multiformat ports.

The list traces back through the year. In July, Spanish developer Vermila Studios laid off staff and said it would likely shut down after lackluster sales for its first game, Crisol: Theater Of Idols. That game, a survival horror title set in Spain, appears on the list alongside Resident Evil Requiem, which features Grace and Leon as its two protagonists. Supermassive Games released Directive 8020 after a gap of nearly four years since its previous Dark Pictures Anthology title; the developer followed with layoffs. Tarsier Studios, maker of the first two Little Nightmares games, released Reanimal. IllFonic, which previously made the Friday The 13th and Killer Klowns From Outer Space games, released Halloween: The Game, with John Carpenter contributing to the music.

Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake also appears on the list. The release is an exception to the rule limiting the roundup to new titles, as it updates an existing game. Wych Elm Games released Silver Pines, its first game, combining Metroidvania and survival horror elements. Tenebris Somnia uses live action cut scenes alongside 16-bit graphics.

Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival marks the first Hellraiser video game. Clive Barker consulted on the story, and Doug Bradley returned as Pinhead. Konami released Silent Hill: Townfall for PlayStation 5 and PC, following the Silent Hill 2 remake and Silent Hill f.

Reanimal is priced at £26.24 in digital stores, excluding the Nintendo Switch 2. Crisol: Theater Of Idols runs on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Directive 8020, Halloween: The Game, and Hellraiser: Revival are listed for those platforms as well. Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake, Reanimal, and Hellraiser: Revival also appear on Nintendo Switch 2. Silver Pines is available on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 in addition to the other platforms. Tenebris Somnia is listed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. On Steam, Tenebris Somnia can be purchased in a bundle with Silver Pines or Look Outside, a horror role-playing game from 2025.
