A thick blanket of fog has settled over the South West, prompting the Met Office to issue a yellow weather warning for the morning.

The warning is in effect until 10 a.m. on Sunday, November 1. It covers the entirety of Gloucestershire and Bristol, as well as the vast majority of Somerset up to the Devon border.

The fog developed widely and will persist into the morning before slowly lifting. Visibility varies by location, with some dense patches reducing sight distance to less than 100 meters.

The Met Office warned that some patches of fog could last until the afternoon. Travelers should expect delays on roads, while those flying should plan for potential cancellations or delays.

Bus, train, and ferry services may also be affected. The bureau advised people to check updates from their travel companies and follow their advice.

Drivers were told to check road conditions before setting out and to ensure their fog lights are functional. This foggy morning follows a wet spell earlier in the week.

Storms Austen and Boelo brought England its wettest week since October 2024. Austen triggered an amber warning for strong winds and rain across Cornwall and parts of Devon on Friday, October 23. Gusts reached nearly 80 mph on the Isle of Wight, causing flight cancellations and power outages for thousands of homes. Boelo arrived on Saturday, October 24, prompting an amber wind warning for Scotland and a yellow warning for northern England. Despite the recent rain, much of the country remains in official drought, with severe drought conditions in parts of the South West.
