Russian air defense systems intercepted 113 drones over Voronezh Oblast during the night of October 25 and 26, 2026. The coordinated strike targeted two major industrial sites: the Voronezh Aircraft Production Association and the Voronezhsintezkauchuk rubber plant. Fires broke out at both facilities, marking one of the largest aerial engagements in the region in recent weeks.
The Voronezhsintezkauchuk facility, part of the Sibur group, produces synthetic rubbers and polymer materials. The Voronezh Aircraft Production Association, operating under the Ilyushin Aviation Complex, manufactures aviation components and the Ilyushin Il-96 jet airliner. Ukrainian open-source intelligence channels Supernova+ and Exilenova+ identified both locations as primary targets of the attack.
Governor Aleksandr Gusev told Interfax that fires occurred at several industrial businesses. He described the incidents as having limited consequences, a characterization that differs from the extensive damage reported by local media. Gusev also listed fires at a business center, an apartment building, two dacha settlements, a school stadium, and a garage cooperative. He noted that damage to building facades and windows was recorded in nearly every district of the city.
Air defense units brought down more than 70 drones directly over the city of Voronezh. The total count of 113 intercepted drones includes strikes over the wider urban area and several districts of the oblast. This volume suggests a large-scale launch designed to overwhelm defensive systems. The city remained shrouded in smoke throughout the engagement, and residents reported that no formal air-raid warning was issued before the strikes began.
Russian media outlet Astra provided specific details on impact locations. They documented a drone hit on the Galereya Chizhova business center at 35A Koltsovskaya Street and captured video of the explosion. The publication also identified explosion sites near residential buildings on 52A 25th Yanvarya Street and 4K Arkhitektora Troitskovo Street. Damage was recorded at the Uritsky residential complex on 135 Uritskovo Street, where at least ten cars in a nearby car park on 275/1 45th Strelkovoy Divizii Street were caught in the flames.
Readers of Astra reported hearing explosions and air defense operations for over an hour. Local authorities are currently assessing the full extent of damage to both public and private property. The attack targets key infrastructure in Russia's aviation and petrochemical sectors, which play central roles in the country's military and economic output.
