Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl halftime show on February 14, 2027, marking his first appearance in that role since 2019.
The NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation made the announcement on Monday night. The event is scheduled for SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. A promotional video accompanied the news, showing the artist seated in the stadium surrounded by goats with the text 'GOAT's out of the bag.'
The confirmation follows days of speculation after Jay-Z closed his 'Jay-Z 30' tour at the same venue over the weekend. That residency began with three shows at Yankee Stadium in New York, continued in London, and concluded in Southern California.
Roc Nation has advised on and produced NFL entertainment presentations since 2019. When the partnership began, Jay-Z told NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, 'If this is about me performing at the Super Bowl, then we can just end this conversation now.' That stance held for seven years until this week's decision.
Previous halftime headliners have included Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, and The Weeknd. Jay-Z, whose full name is Shawn Carter, has won 25 Grammy Awards and received 89 nominations. His wife, Beyonce, holds the record for the most nominations in history and has performed at two Super Bowls.
The artist's catalog includes albums such as 'Reasonable Doubt,' 'The Blueprint,' and 'The Black Album.' His 1996 debut, 'Reasonable Doubt,' entered the Grammy Hall of Fame last year. He joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021 and became the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017.
Beyond music, Jay-Z co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records and established Roc Nation in 2008. The company now manages artists and athletes across various entertainment sectors.
