Domonic Olivares pleaded guilty in North Carolina court on Wednesday to two counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. The former Greenville police officer agreed to the deal, which dismissed six additional counts, including first- and second-degree sexual exploitation charges.
The judge sentenced Olivares to two consecutive suspended terms of six to 17 months each. He will avoid state prison unless he violates the terms of his eight-year supervised probation. The court also ordered him to serve 100 days in jail under the state’s Misdemeanant Confinement Program and required him to register as a sex offender.
Olivares was 30 years old when the State Bureau of Investigation arrested him in September 2025. The original arrest warrant cited two counts of first-degree sexual exploitation, three counts of second-degree, and three counts of third-degree. Authorities stated that Olivares used a 16-year-old girl to create videos showing her engaged in sexual activity.
The Greenville Police Department hired Olivares in May 2020. A department spokeswoman said he was fired on August 5, 2021. That termination occurred two months after the SBI began investigating a complaint the department had received about Olivares.
The plea agreement concluded the criminal proceedings against the former officer. He must now complete his jail time and begin his probation period. The dismissal of the higher-degree counts stands as part of the finalized deal.
