Bath City defeated Poole Town 1-0 at home on Tuesday, securing their fourth consecutive league victory. The win ended an unbeaten run for the visitors that had stretched back to August. Manager Scott Bartlett credited his squad with a professional performance that prioritized defensive structure over attacking flair.

The match began with both teams exchanging possession, but neither side could force a clear-cut chance. The breakthrough came in the 18th minute when Poole failed to clear a free-kick. Harry Parsons collected the ball at the edge of the box, held off two challenges, and drove a shot into the top corner.

Parsons had earlier curled a shot around the post after Enzio Boldewijn won the ball in the final third. Poole responded through Billy Lowes, whose long-range strike was saved comfortably by Bath goalkeeper Harvey Wiles-Richards. Callum Woods delivered a low cross through the penalty area for the hosts before the break.

The second half saw Poole dominate possession. Jake Lawrence pressed the defense repeatedly, skewing a header off target from a promising position. Charlie Davis and Selim Saied combined to set up Brandon Goodship, whose shot struck a Bath defender. Owen Dore volleyed wide from a corner, while Boldewijn and Donovan Wilson both had shots blocked by the Poole back line.

Ryan Campbell missed Poole’s best opportunity of the match, heading wide from six yards out after good work from Saied. Wiles-Richards saved shots from Saied and Lawrence as the visitors continued to push. Ezio Touray’s attempted lob from the edge of the box dropped wide after Wiles-Richards halted a charge to play a long ball.

Lawrence fired a powerful effort past the post late in the game. Bath nearly added a second as space opened up. Alex Fisher flicked the ball on to Reuben Reid, who swiveled and shot against the legs of keeper Adam Parkes. Boldewijn drove a shot wide in the final minutes as Bath controlled the closing stage of the match.

Bartlett acknowledged that his team was loose and passive on the ball at times, particularly in the first half. He stated that the players had to ride waves of Poole possession and keep the ball out of the net. He praised the substitutions, noting that the players who came on had a big impact in securing the three points.

The manager described the team as organized and commended Parsons for scoring a great goal. He noted that Poole stretches the field and rotates well in midfield. Bartlett said both teams would be contenders for the title this season and viewed the result as a positive sign for Bath City’s campaign.
